Your Veterinary Technician: Client Counselling


All the registered veterinary technicians working at Town Centre have received their diploma from an accredited Animal Health Technology program. We have been trained to provide hands-on care to a variety of animals and their owners. One aspect of our training is client counselling.

Your veterinary technician’s knowledge spans  far past just the medical side of caring for your pet. Your veterinary technician is also the one who will discuss care outside the clinic with you. Discussions such as medication dispensing, diabetic counselling, diet changes and nutritional counselling, post surgical instructions, puppy and kitten care and home dental care are usually be between you and a veterinarian technician.

Your Veterinary Technician: Laboratory Diagnostics

All the registered veterinary technicians working at Town Centre have received their diploma from an accredited Animal Health Technology program. We have been trained to provide hands-on care to a variety of animals. One aspect of our training is laboratory diagnostics, this includes a wide variety of in-clinic laboratory work and sample preparation for tests performed at outside laboratories.

When your pet comes in for an appointment, a lot of the time additional testing recommended. Whether this be blood work, ear swabs, fecal or urine testing, your veterinary technician plays an important part in the sample collection, preparation and running the majority of the tests for the veterinarian.
